Polyx®–Oil High Solid
Osmo Polyx®-Oil is a high quality Hardwax-Oil wood finish that is derived from natural vegetable oils and waxes. Developed for hardwood floors, furniture and other interior woodwork. Easy to spot-repair and renew with no sanding required.
Creates a microporous coating which does not peel, crack, flake, or blister. Once cured the finish is resistant to water, dirt, beer, wine, cola and other common spillages. Easy application with a brush or roller or alternatively with a cloth for pad a minimalist buffed-in finish.
- High solid content offers 2-3x the coverage of conventional wood finishes
- Extremely durable and hard-wearing, will not crack, flake or peel
- Water resistant suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, and other rooms exposed to high humidity
- Can be spot-repaired and refreshed without sanding
Based on highly refined renewable raw materials: Soybean, Sunflower and Thistle oils; as well as Carnauba and Candellila waxes. Comparison tests have proved that our products are among the longest lasting natural coating systems ever.
When dry, our finishes unfil both DIN EN 71.3 (suitable for children's toys) and DIN 53160 (resistant to perspiration and saliva), making them safe for humans, animals and plants.
The oils penetrate the pores of the wood, and the hardwaxes form a breathable, protective barrier. Our finishes meet the strict requirements of DIN 68861-1A to be resistant to wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water.

Raw wood
with Polyx®-Oil
By hand with a lint-free cloth
Apply 4-6 thin coats with a lint-free microfibre cloth. ie. Osmo Easy Pads.
- Stir the Polyx®-Oil well and prior to use
- Work product into wood using cloth in a circular or figure 8 pattern
- Working with the grain, remove all excess product from surface
Allow 8-10 hours drying time prior to recoating. Apply subsequent coats following previous steps
NOTE: Depending upon the species of wood (ie. Walnut) it may not be possible to achieve full durability and stain resistance when applying with a cloth. If high durability is required (ie. Floors and Tabletops) we suggest to apply the coating using the Brush or Roller technique.
Cure Period: Osmo Polyx-Oil(s) like all finishes have a cure period. We recommend allowing 2-3 weeks for the surface to fully cure and harden prior to damp-mopping or placing rugs/mats on the surface.
WARNING: Cloths saturated with product are a spontaneous combustion hazard and should be left out unfolded until dried, prior to disposal or preferably stored in a proper fireproof container.
By hand with SuperPads/Scotchbrite pads
Apply 3-4 thin coats with non-abrasive white scotchbrite pads
- Stir the Polyx®-Oil well and pour into tray
- Work the product into the wood thinly and evenly in figure 8 or circular motions using a white pad
- Be sure to thinly and evenly coat the surface and leave on the surface for approx. 5 minutes
- With a clean white pad, polish the surface ensuring no swirl marks, rings, or wipe marks
- Ensure all excess product is removed from surface
Allow approx. 8-10 hours drying time. Allow for good ventilation whilst drying. Apply subsequent coats following the previous steps.

By hand with Fleece Applicator pad
Apply 2-3 thin coats with our fleece applicator pads (best way to ensure you avoid over-application).
- Stir the Polyx®-Oil well and pour into tray
- Work the product into the wood thinly and evenly using the fleece applicator pad
- Be sure to thinly and evenly coat the surface
Allow approx. 8-10 hours drying time. Allow for good ventilation whilst drying. Apply second coat and third coats following previous steps.

With a brush or roller
First Coat: Apply one thin coat with an Osmo Floor Brush or Osmo Floor Roller. Our rollers have a 4mm nap.
- Stir the Polyx®-Oil well and prior to use
- Brush or roll the product thinly and evenly onto the floor.
- Do not remove excess product, this will absorb into the wood surface over the drying period
Allow 8-10 hours drying time prior to proceeding to second coat
Second Coat: Roll or Brush a thin second coat
- Brush or roll the second coat thinly and evenly onto the floor
- Allow 8-10 hours drying time. Allow for good ventilation whilst drying.
Third Coat: Usually a third coat is not required, however highly absorbent or dry timbers may appear to require a third coat.
Please consult OSMO technical support at 1-844-OSMOCAN prior to carrying out a third coat
NOTE: For high quality finishes on items like tabletops, a smoother result can be achieved by lightly sanding the surface after the second coat has fully dried with P320 or P400 grit sandpaper, and then buffing in 1-2 coats with a cloth or white pad.
Cure Period: Osmo Polyx-Oil(s) like all finishes have a cure period. We recommend allowing 2-3 weeks for the surface to fully cure and harden prior to damp-mopping or placing rugs/mats on the surface.
