Sanding: Wood surface should be sanded to P80-P120 grit using a belt sander or similar, and all traces of old finish or paint must be removed. For exterior furniture P120-150 grit is suggested.
Important: A pressure washer can significantly raise the moisture content beyond 20% and surfaces prepared in this manner must be allowed to dry for 2-3 weeks before applying finish.
1. If possible apply the first coat on all sides of the boards before installation
2. Use a flat brush for wood stain to apply the finish thinly and evenly, along the wood grain
3. Allow 10 to 12 hours drying time.
Tip: For windows or other surfaces exposed to weathering, apply a coat of Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra over One Coat HS Plus when fully dry. This will give the surface a slightly satin
appearance and added longevity of the finish. If possible apply to all
sides of the wood.
Note: The finish may also be buffed into the wood, in thin applications using a non-abrasive white pad or microfibre applicator pad.
Tip: The type, age and texture of timber can have a dramatic impact on how much One Coat Only HS Plus you need.
As an example, softwood that is old or highly fibrous will likely require more oil than new hardwood.
WARNING: Cloths saturated with product are a spontaneous combustion hazard and should be left out unfolded until dried, prior to disposal or preferably stored in a proper fireproof
container.
